জাপান কাহিনি ১ম খণ্ড(হার্ডকভার)

I’ve just finished reading Part One of Ashir Ahmed’s জাপান কাহিনী, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. What I found most interesting was his perspective. He spent so many years in Japan, yet continued to look at Japanese society from an outsider’s point of view. At the same time, he embraced, adapted to, and integrated many of those cultural differences into his own life, while remaining deeply connected to his own culture and identity. Having lived in Toronto for almost 30 years, I’ve experienced some of those cultural adjustments myself, so there were definitely moments when I could relate to what he was describing. I also really enjoyed his sense of humour. Some of the subjects he wrote about were quite intense and emotional—especially when he talked about things like suicide or the funeral arrangements for someone he cared about deeply. Yet somehow, he managed to bring in little touches of humour and subtle jokes without taking away from the seriousness of the subject. One thing that really stood out to me was when he talked about his financial struggles during his postgrad years and even going hungry. I think many immigrants experience similar situations at some point in their journey. It’s relatively easy to share those experiences with immediate family, but putting them out into the world for others to read takes a lot of courage. I really appreciate how vulnerable he was, and I admire his openness and honesty in sharing those experiences. Can’t wait to start Part Two—I’m really curious to see what comes next!
