An autobiographical account of the author's flight to Canada in pursuit of higher studies. Incredible accounts in details of her associations, experiences, hopes and disappointments. The book, although more of a personal account than her previous autobiographical book "Jui Phuler Baranda" and could be acclaimed as a sequel, still continues to uphold a universality that readers would enjoy and appreciate. Many people leave homes to study abroad or in faraway places, miss their safety nets, their comfort zones, develop a sense of feeling uprooted, have difficulty adjusting, miss home yet, feel the excitement of discovering their identities, mold themselves to belong and conquer in their new surroundings. Nashid describes her experiences in Canada drawing in flashbacks of the life she had left behind, her school friends, her University friends, her teachers, her Ustads, her relatives and her popularity. She learns to create a name and space in that alien land but the heart remains in the bosom of the loving grandma and soul tiptoes back to the verandah of the fragrant jasmine. So many of us have gone through similar experiences in life, but who thought of penning those emotions, that time, that generation and their aspirations and creating a book about it? This book will be an asset for not only literature lovers, but also to social researchers.
