Dedication
Poet Jibanananda Das is the foremost one among my favorite poets. Ranesh Dasgupta, the then literary editor of the Daily Sangbad, edited a collection of his poems for the first time from this Bangla during Pakistan regime. I bought this collection, and before buying it, I read his poetry from sources. Reading so many poems together, I could have a glimpse of the weight of his poetry. The most diligent researcher of his poetry was late poet Abdul Mannan Syed. I got admitted to Bangla Department at Dhaka University for completing M. Phil course. The subject of my dissertation was Jibanananda Das. My research guide was Dr. Mohammad Moniruzzaman. A library card also was issued to me, but at that time, I was appointed Assistant Commissioner, and so, I consulted my guide. Considering the situation from every he suggested me to join the public service. Thus, my research on poet Jibanananda Das came to an end. However, my reading Jibanananda Das did not stop there. The poet was born on 6 Falgun, 1305 (17 February, 1899) and died on 5 Kartik, 1361 (22 October, 1954) in a tram accident.
