Book review : বইঃতঁহি মিনার্ভা লেখিকাঃমারিয়া কবির Love can destroy you or love can build your entire life. বহুদিন আগে একটা গল্প পড়ার পর মনে হয়েছিলো।তেমনি একটানা তঁহি মিনার্ভা পড়ার পর মনে হলো।সায়েন্স ফিকশন বা fantasy এই জনরায় আমার বই পড়তে গেলে বেশ বেগ পেতে হয়।বইটির মূল থিম যদি আমার অতি প্রাকৃত লাগে বা লেখাটার সাথে আমি relate করতে না পারি তখন বইটা বাধ্য হয়ে পড়া বন্ধ করে দিতে হয়।কিন্তু এই বইটি পড়তে গিয়ে আমার এমন লাগে নি।বরং মনে হয়েছে mature content এবং সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ গল্পের সাথে একটা আধভৌতিক রহস্যময়তার সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। বইটির কাহিনীর শুরুটা বেশ অন্যরকম। আপনি শুরুতেই হোঁচট খাবেন,আপনার মনের কৌতুহলের শুয়োপোকা গুলো প্রজাপতি হয়ে পেটে ঘুরাঘুরি করবে।আপনি কিন্তু একই সাথে দুটো প্যারালাল ইউনিভার্সে যাতায়াত করবেন।এই দুই জগতের নানা মিল অমিলের মাঝে আপনি আবিষ্কার করবেন ভালবাসার স্থান সব কিছুর উপরে। পাঠ অনুভূতিঃ বইটি পড়ে যে বিষয় ভালো লেগেছেঃ ১/আমি গ্রীক মিথোলজির একজন ফ্যান।গল্পে লেখিকা যেভাবে গ্রীক মিথোলজির সাথে মূল গল্পের rendition বা মিশ্রণ করেছেন তা ছিলো এক দারুণ উপভোগ্য বিষয়। ২/গল্পে বেশ কিছু বিজ্ঞানভিত্তিক ব্যাখা এসেছে যা পড়তে গিয়ে মনে হয়েছে যে মারিয়া কবিরের লেখা আগে পড়েছি একি সেই?একজন বিজ্ঞান বিভাগের ছাত্রী হিসেবে বিষয়গুলো পড়েছি যেমন, সাথে সাথে brain storming ও করেছি।বিষয়গুলো ছিলো সহজবোধ্য এবং উপভোগ্য।বিজ্ঞান বিভাগের ছাত্র বা ছাত্রী ছাড়াও বইটি পড়লে আপনি easily অনুধাবন করতে পারবেন। ৩/মানবমনের যে ষড়রিপু,তা থেকে যে কারো রেহাই নেই।ক্ষমতার লোভ যে কত বড় বড় দূর্যোগ বয়ে আনতে পারে তাই যেন পুনরায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত। ৪/প্যারালাল ইউনিভার্সের সাথে প্যারালাল প্লটিং এর যে দারুণ concept তা ছিলো উপভোগ্য। ৫/বইটিতে বেশ কিছু ইংরেজি সাহিত্যের কোটেশন ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে যা ছিলো গল্পের সাথে সাদৃশ্যপূর্ণ।গল্পের সেটিং,চরিত্রের বিকাশ সাধনের জন্য এই চমৎকার লাইন ছিলো অপরিহার্য। ৫/বেশ কিছু বিষয় নিয়ে খটকা থাকলেও গল্পের অগ্রগতির সাথে সাথে খটকা দূর হয়েছে।গল্পের প্রতিটা চরিত্রের course of action এর কারণ এবং ব্যাখা আপনি রহস্যের শেষ দৃশ্যে উন্মোচন করতে পারবেন। ৬/গল্পে mature content থাকলেও তা ছিলো শালীনতার আবরণে।কোথাও কোনো ধরনের কথোপকথন বা বিবরণ আপনাকে অস্বস্তিতে ফেলবে না।আপনি অনুভব করে যাবেন কিন্তু তা নিয়ে ব্যাতিব্যস্ত হবেন না।কারণ আপনার গল্পের মনোযোগ পরিপূর্ণভাবে থাকবে চরিত্রগুলোর পরিণতি ও গল্পের শেষ অঙ্কের দিকে। বইটি কেন পড়বেনঃ ১/sci-fi মানেই যারা স্পেশিপ বা রঙ বেরঙের এলিয়েন বুঝেন তাদের জন্য বইটি নয়।বরং যারা বিজ্ঞানের নানা রহস্যময়তা নিয়ে চিন্তা করেন এবং একটি বৈজ্ঞানিক ঘটনার চলমান ব্যাখার সাথে পেছনের কারণগুলো জানতে চান তাদের জন্য বইটি একটা জম্পেশ বই। ২/যারা romance এর ক্ষেত্রে নিব্বা নিব্বির প্রেম নয় বরং একটু mature content বা পরিণত ভালোবাসা পছন্দ করেন তাদের জন্য এই বইটি। ৩/যারা যেকোনো বই পড়লে entertainment এর পাশাপাশি কিছু শিখতে চান তাদের জন্য এ বইটি। এ বইটির ভেতরের কিছু মেসেজ আপনার কৌতুহলী মনকে নাড়া দিতে বাধ্য। ৪/যারা Mythology বা greek mythology নিয়ে আগ্রহী,কোথাও এর সম্পর্কে কিছু পেলেই পড়তে পছন্দ করেন তাদের জন্য এ বইটি একটি রসগোল্লা। ৫/মানব মনের অলিগলি বা থ্রিলার জনরা যাদের ভালো লাগে তাদের জন্য এ বইটি বেশ উপাদেয়।কারণ শেষ টুইস্টটা আপনাকে বাধ্য করবে পুনরায় পেছনের দুই পাতা re-read করতে। ভালোবাসা শাশ্বত,ভালোবাসায় ত্যাগেই প্রকৃত সুখ।প্রকৃত শৃঙখল তখনই ছিন্ন হয় যখন তীব্র ভালোবাসার সাথে একটু ত্যাগের মিশেল ঘটে।একদিকে ষড়রিপুর আদিম রিপুগুলোর তান্ডবে শিহরিত হয়েছি তেমনি মানবিকতার দৃষ্টান্তে আলোড়িত হয়েছি।

I am probably nit going to start this reciew with traditional story overview or character analysis. In my opinion, this novel was much more complex than the storyline itself. This novels can make anyone realize how complex a human mind can be. For a regular reader, it might sound boring but for the readers who like to read between the lines, would devour it in no time. This is a story of Afra. A girl who has a severe level of depression, even suicidal. Her mind created a complex maze for her that she can't even figure out. The writer takes the readers through every single turn of that maze. A very dark maze!!! Shoumik might look like a lover from a different planet. But he wasn't like that in my mind. A man with moderate mood swings. May be his past life played a role in it. May be he never loved Afra! May be he was only affected by the mind controlling power that Afra had. Still a mystery! Titash is the villain in the story. But still couldn't get out of Afra's power or may be he did. Who knows!!! The writer calls this novel "science fiction". It is a fiction with entities from different planet that goes parallel with the reality. It has some delicate touches of science but not enough to consider as a science fiction. It has plenty of psychological mysteries. I would consider this novel as a psychological fantasy. ( Now please don't come here and tell me there's no genre called psychological fantasy. The genre in literature is an ever changing subject.) Things I didnt like: The writer wanted to make shoumik into something that people might like. As a result, she couldn't maintain the character strength in certain part of the novel. Final words: I would say this is the best novel that the writer has written so far. I was surprised to see how much research she has put behind this novel. The things is, (i might be wrong) when people see that the writer is a woman and she has tried to write a science fiction (?), the first thought comes "Women are dumb, this book doesn't worth the time." Even though the female writer has done an excellent job compared to her male colleagues. I think it's a good time to value the brain rather than the testosterone.
