In this study, Dr. Wright provides an explanation of events which occurred in the first phase of Bangladesh's existence during the time of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. These events have been analysed in the light of the country's historical inheritance and the powerful political, economic and military pressures exerted by its Indian Ocean neighbours.
