Economic growth and the expansion of social welfare have a high correlation with the development of infrastructures, social service facilities and production centres. All these land-based projects generate forced displacement of men and communities.

The book reviews the planning and implementation approach taken for different resettlement plans in Bangladesh. With all "good plans" prepared and all required resources mobilized, why the distress created by forced displacement could not be resolved? The objective is to find what went wrong.
