Poems of a grateful soul (Hardcover)

The pen name “ymihere” reflects the author Yusuf Mahbubul Islam’s main question about life. Why am I here? Such a question begs another question, why was I created? Or even, as a creation, what does my Creator want from me? The name ymihere is meant to signify the author’s search for purpose. The poems share the author’s own reflection about the purpose of life.

Born in Armanitola, Dhaka, Bangladesh, in 1956, he has had the good fortune of spending time in several foreign countries, initially with his father, his role model, and later on his own and with his family. Meeting people of various cultural backgrounds added food for his reflective thoughts.

Having lived and studied abroad for 26 years, he is now stationed in Bangladesh since 1988. He is currently the Vice Chancellor at Southeast University Bangladesh, having held the same position at Metropolitan University Sylhet and Daffodil International University, Dhaka. His main passion is helping people to learn by asking questions like ymihere? It is this passion that has led to the cluster of poems presented in this volume. The history of each poem is added as a window into the thinking of the author. The medley of poems presented cover human life, occasions and poems for the family - collectively providing a window into the grateful nature of the author.
