The Battle of Dhaka, from 3 December to 16 December, 1971, is compared and contrasted with 6 Battles of the Second World War. The first is the invasion of Poland by Germany and the Battle of Warsaw: 1-27 September 1939. The Polish army fought fiercely and courageously, but horses against tanks is no match. The second is the invasion of France in May 1940. The Panzer divisions of Marshal Heinz Guderian and Marshal Erwin Rommel moved freely through France covering 200 miles in a week. The third is the Fall of Singapore (8-15 February 1942) where British General Percival surrendered with 130 thousand soldiers to General Yamashita. It was the largest British defeat in their history, The Fourth is the Battle of Leningrad (8 September 1941-25 January, 1944) where the Russians never surrendered. The 5th is the Battle of Stalingrad (24 August 1942-2 February 1943) where the Russians under General Zhukov counter-attacked and German Marshal Paulus surrendered. The next is the Battle of Berlin (16 April- 2 May 1945) where the Hitler Youth fought fiercely street by street but was ultimately defeated.
