Generally elections are the only means available to the people to express their will and opinions through the ballot. Free, fair and credible elections are vital for the growth and sustenance of democracy in any country. The electoral laws, rules, procedures as well as the institutions regulate and administer them.
The other vital player of the game of the entire processes is the Election Management Body. The two fundamental jobs of the EBM are to fully prepare the ground and to conduct the election.
Basically elections are means of ensuring that a nation chooses its representatives based on clearly defined pro democratic rules.
In this process, political parties, government institutions, members of the civil society and the media all play vital roles.
Above all free, fair and credible elections are essential for continuance of democratic system of governance.
Since there is a paucity of books on elections in Bangladesh, the present attempt will hopefully meet some demands specially people interested in election related matters.
